The Economist Intelligence Unit’s Healthcare Consulting Division offers sector-focused research, strategic advisory and evidence-based services for organizations across the healthcare ecosystem. This entails a full suite of solutions, from assessing growth opportunities for industry to understanding the effectiveness and value of healthcare interventions, on both advanced and emerging economies.

 

Currently we are seeking to a highly motivated and talented Associate to augment our dynamic, award winning global team and growing Health Policy Practice. The Policy Associate will manage a number of projects around evidence based clinical research and health policy analyses that drive effective organizational decisions and impactful external engagement. The position will also entail working to develop new clientele in both the public and private sector by promoting our capabilities, interpreting customer needs and presenting compelling insights.

Accountabilities

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Represent EIU Healthcare policy solutions and broader organizational capabilities with clients and stakeholders
  • Lead project teams of healthcare analysts in multi-country engagements for government / NGO / industry clients, with a focus on evidence based analyses such as literature reviews, disease burden, health policy analysis and international benchmarking
  • Design and implement project methodologies, including primary research, literature searches, data analysis, all supporting compelling deliverables and relevant conclusions
  • Liaise with the client during the course of project engagement, including communicating project updates, presenting key milestones, pre-empting project issues and managing different client stakeholders
  • Work with our Business Development Executives to develop "winning" proposals from leads and RFPs generated by interpreting client needs, conceptualising the project framework, defining clear project approaches and output, and demonstrating EIU Healthcare knowledge
  • Manage and continuously deepen and strengthen client relationships, particularly those private and public sector clients based in the US
  • Support the Head of Health Policy Practice in identifying and developing new target customers through client meetings, collateral creation and event attendance
  • Drive key company initiatives including new solutions development and workflow improvement
  • Develop health specific expertise around key therapeutic areas, policy developments and evidence based analyses

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience in healthcare (either in public or private sector), with a policy and/or healthcare consulting focus
  • A Master’s degree from top tier university, with a Science or Health Policy focus
  • Proven experience in successfully delivering a range of evidence-based health related analyses with qualitative and quantitative components, preferably with a Health Economics focus
  • Knowledge of health policy / system trends and issues; ideal candidate would have exposure to international markets
  • A track record in successfully developing and delivering relevant research & consulting projects
  • Exceptional command of written and spoken English
  • Highly analytical, organized and meticulous research skills
  • Effective client management skills and experience liaising with senior executives
