The Economist Media Lab is an incubator within The Economist dedicated to exploring new technologies and business models for digital media. The Lab's methodology involves design, storytelling, and agile thinking to create mockups and prototypes for new digital products and services.
The Media Lab is seeking a Media Lab Fellow for a summer/fall 2018 session, which will focus on The Economist’s audio products. During the 10-week term, the Media Lab Fellow will work closely with New York- and London-based product teams and Economist journalists and editors to evaluate The Economist’s audio strategy and products; and produce 2-3 prototypes that improve the customer journey and user experience, both on platform and off.
The prototyping process will be end-to-end, involving market and customer research, ideation, content strategy, product design, software development and partnerships, user testing, internal presentation, and release planning. Experience in product or service design preferred. Portfolio links encouraged.
The Media Lab Fellow will report to the VP for Product Development and Innovation and be based in New York.
In this role you will contribute by:
Working closely with the New Product Development team in New York and Economist journalists and editors on market and customer research, ideation, content strategy, product design, software development and partnerships, user testing, internal presentation, and release planning
Producing 2-3 prototypes that improve the customer journey and user experience around The Economist’s audio products, both on platform and off
