Currently, CQ Roll Call is seeking a legislative analyst/writer to cover bills scheduled for House floor consideration. The analyst will write accurate and in-depth summaries of legislation for CQ House Action Reports – describing bill provisions and the intent of legislation, providing relevant background information and summarizing arguments made by supporters and opponents of controversial bills.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized with a deep knowledge of congressional policy, procedure and politics, and have the ability to understand often complex legislation and prepare reports which summarize that information for readers in a clear and concise fashion. Strong collaboration is a must, as the candidate would work daily with House Action Report’s team of analysts and editors and also regularly communicate with CQ Roll Call reporters and editors. Applicants should have substantial congressional or policy experience, and/or journalistic experience covering Congress and public policy.
