    Currently we are seeking a full-time Multimedia Producer to create video news stories about events and personalities on Capitol Hill.



    In this role you would be expected to:

    • Shoot and edit video — both in studio and on location; Familiarity with basic lighting set-ups
    • Should be proficient with all stages of video development including but not limited to: script writing, filming, editing, motion graphics, post production, online video management and live streaming productions
    • Produce originally reported text-based stories as needed; Solid research, reporting and writing skills are required
    • Aggregate clips of floor speeches, committee hearings and press conferences, grabbing relevant feeds from outside news sources
    • Strong interview skills are a must for interviewing subjects on camera
    • Proven ability to juggle deadlines and prioritize projects using news judgment
    • Capture and curate audio content
    • Work side-by-side with Roll Call (or CQ) reporters to find or create complementary video for their reporting


    To succeed in the role you must have:   

    • A keen interest in politics and Congress
    • A minimum of one year of experience producing high-quality video pieces
    • An understanding of new forms of storytelling, as well as an affinity for audience engagement on social video platforms
    • A command of fact checking and an understanding of journalistic best practices
    • Experience with short social-friendly video and longer, programmatic approaches

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you will be able to demonstrate:

    • Video editing experience including Adobe, Final Cut or Avid
    • Motion graphics editing experience, i.e. Adobe After Effects
    • Video shooting expertise
    • Still photography shooting and editing experience
    • Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator competency
    • Video codecs & export settings understanding
    • Upload video process & using metadata/tags
    • Knowledge of all social platforms
    • Understanding of Google Analytics platform for metrics tracking, analysis and reporting
