The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) sets the global standard for providing strategic analysis in matters of public policy for governments, NGOs, companies and international institutions in more than 200 countries. EIU’s expertise in country analysis, macroeconomic principles and forecasting methodologies has provided decision makers with critical information since 1946.
We are recruiting a Senior Data Developer to join our rapidly growing Digital team in Gurgaon. As we look to accelerate our drive towards becoming a digitally enabled business, we are actively changing our landscape, from supporting desktop data tools, Excel analysis and visualisation pipelines to Cloud scale big data analysis on AWS.
The bulk of the developer’s work would be in building, managing and optimising data pipelines and then moving these data pipelines effectively into production for key data consumers such as our economists, analysts and data scientists.
Data developer also need to guarantee compliance with data governance and data security requirements while creating, improving and operationalising these integrated and reusable data pipelines. This would enable faster data access, integrated data reuse and vastly improved time-to-solution for EIU data and analysis initiatives.
This role will be part of our Gurgaon team, which is connected to a wider Global presence across London and New York. Some flexibility will be required to work with some crossover with London and New York.
How you will contribute:
Build data pipelines: Architecting, creating and maintaining data pipelines
Drive Automation through effective metadata management: The use of innovative and modern tools, techniques and architectures to partially or completely automate the most-common, repeatable and tedious data preparation and integration tasks in order to minimize manual and error-prone processes and improve productivity.
Support and Transition: Support and optimise our current desktop data tool set and Excel analysis pipeline to a transformative Cloud scale Big Data Architecture environment.
Collaborate across departments: Work in close relationship with data science teams and with business (economists/data) analysts in refining their data requirements for various initiatives and data consumption requirements.
