    Due to our industry leading growth, The Economist Group is adding a Business Development Manager to our integrated solutions team in NYC. The incumbent should be a talented content and advertising sales executive who can effectively navigate the Financial Services and Luxury and Consumer industries. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for leveraging their knowledge of the competitive market and Economist Group products and services to drive new business opportunities while maintaining existing client relationships. 



    How you will contribute:

    • Stay up-to-date on major media trends, high end consumer demographics, and the purchasing habits of senior level business decision makers
    • Develop and foster strong relationships with clients and advertising agencies' to maintain The Economist’s position as a high quality and valued brand
    • Effectively manage all aspects of your designated territory by understanding your clients business and the competitive landscape to maximize revenues and drive new business
    • Develop a client strategy for each individual account to meet and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual advertising and content revenue across all platforms
    • Pro-actively manage assigned categories of marketers, analyze usage trends within categories, and work closely with counterparts in other sales offices to identify business opportunities
    • Confidently and persuasively convey the Economist Group capabilities to clients and prospects through effective written and verbal communications
    • Report and forecast sales revenue, revenues against monthly and annual targets, and market share
    • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date sales database


    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills for this role are: 

    • A minimum of 4 years relevant sales and/or media agency experience along with BS / BA degree
    • Extensive knowledge of Eastern U.S. market, with specific expertise and relationships in, Financial Services, Luxury and/or Consumer verticals
    • Experience in structuring integrated programs including custom content
    • Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and contact management Software (Salesforce)
    • Detail, organization, and time-management skills to balance executing strategy with the need to deliver short term results
    • Experience in lead-generation and ability to secure meetings with prospective clients
    • Ability to take on a consultative sales approach to creatively generate custom advertising and content solutions
    • Excellent relationship building and strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Willingness to travel and organize trips (NY office covers all Eastern U.S)
