    The Economist Intelligence Unit (eiu.com) are transitioning to operating with agile product teams and adopting cloud native engineering practices and we need your help. As a QA Engineer you will improve how we continuously deliver our applications ensuring best practice, testing and quality of our systems.


    We’re changing, embedding alternate data sources such as GPS and satellite data into our forecasting, products will increasingly be tailored to individual clients, driven by some of the most innovative data in the market. A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience and Product Engineering is being created with a focus on creating business and customer value driven by real time analytics alongside our traditional products.



    How you will contribute:

    • Execute the functional and non-functional testing for all web applications
    • Execute the internal regression testing process to ensure no existing business functionality is affected by feature development
    • Apply team-based standards for testing tools and techniques and advise on their application
    • Ensure your testing approach will be exploratory and risk based, favouring the discovery and communication of information over the creation of test artifact
    • Create reports on test results and software product quality
    • Execute test estimation
    • Work with developers to help them become better testers
    • Helping define and rollout improvements to testing and quality processes across both a tech team and wider company
    • Works within, and encourages a Devops culture and Continuous Delivery process
    • Works within agile cross-functional product teams

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills for this role include:

    • Programming language experience: Javascript
    • In-depth experience of test planning, analysis and scripting
    • Experience of testing within an Agile environment, adapting quickly to changing situations
    • Applying testing efforts, execution, and reporting, across multiple concurrent projects
    • An experienced QA Manual tester, with previous experience of large scale web applications, who understands that testing is far more than just “checking it works”
    • To conduct quality check and understand how it can be improved at every stage of software development
    • The ability to define and iterate a test approach
    • Experience of solving complex problems/issues
    • Experience in challenging technical approaches and adding business value
    • Understanding of BDD or TDD testing approach (preferred)
    • Experience with Continuous Delivery
    • Project management and issue tracking tool experience: Atlassian Confluence, Atlassian JIRA
    • Complete understanding of data and content flows through CMS and CDN systems
    • Experience with testing on public cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS
    • Capable of technical deep-dives into code and architecture
    • Effective communication skills
