    The Public Policy practice is recruiting for a Regional Director in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region to lead an internationally-focused and diverse team of consultants. The successful candidate will be focused on building the profile of the practice, developing consulting opportunities and overseeing the delivery of high-quality and impactful projects.

     

     

    Accountabilities

    How you will contribute:

    • Manage a team of regional consultants, including planning, directing and overseeing the day-to-day activities of team members
    • Provide intellectual leadership to the EMEA team and guide the development of an issue-specific practice area
    • Actively support and oversee regional business development activities through the generation of compelling research programs and proposals for new business development as well as consultant-driven opportunities
    • Represent the EIU at key regional fora, client presentations, expert panels, and other external engagements
    • Oversee regional consultant-driven business development opportunities, actively guiding, shaping and helping to execute the consultant-led business development strategy
    • Ensure that the consulting work delivered by the regional consultants meets the quality standards, branding rules and editorial guidelines set by the Economist Intelligence Unit
    • Serve as a senior client contact for key regional accounts – use influence and position to renew and grow these accounts, deepening the relationships with these clients; build and maintain relationships with key clients to ensure business is renewed and expanded
    • Develop project revenue milestones, tracking progress and communicating information to Global Directors
    • Be responsible for regional resource (staff) assignments for both business development and project delivery, ensuring appropriate staffing that is organized and tracked through our project management software

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills of the role are :

    • Education to degree level, master’s degree preferred
    • Strong management experience and proven ability to motivate and lead a team
    • Excellent stakeholder-management skills
    • Strong consulting and project management experience
    • Experience successfully fund-raising or generating new business in the public or private sectors
    • Expert knowledge of research methodologies
    • Client-facing experience with policymakers and/or corporate executives
    • Experience in planning and monitoring revenue
    • Experience in effectively managing staff resources
    • Excellent presentation and moderation/chairing skills
    • Well developed public profile as a public policy expert 
    • Drive to set and reach ambitious goals
    • Keen interest and ability in actively growing the Public Policy  business through business development activities, including consultant-driven business development
    • Strong knowledge of client organisations in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, including among governments, international institutions, corporations, foundations and other types of NGOs
    • A strong desire to provide excellent client service
    • Ability to regularly communicate goals, expectations and objectives (including on strategy)
