    We’re changing, embedding alternate data sources such as GPS and satellite data into our forecasting, products will increasingly be tailored to individual clients, driven by some of the most innovative data in the market. A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience and Product Engineering is being created with a focus on creating business and customer value-driven by real-time analytics alongside our traditional products.


    We are looking for a Product Designer who will be responsible for leading a user-centred design process, working across a mix of existing websites for our subscription services, new products and marketing websites. Each designer is part of a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Analysts and Engineers tackling customer-centric challenges


    This role will be part of our London team, which is connected to a wider Global presence across London, Gurgaon and New York. Some flexibility will be required to crossover with teams in those locations.


    How you will contribute:


    Understand customers

    • Gain a deep understanding of our customers and ensure we remain customer-centric in everything we do
    • Plan and run research activities and usability tests, bringing forward new findings and learnings
    • Understand and (where appropriate) challenge business requirements to champion user needs, as a way to further promote product and market strategy


    Own the design process

    • Own the entire design process from idea to implementation
    • Engage customers, stakeholders and your team to ensure your proposed design fits business goals and technical constraints and meets user needs  
    • Think holistically about the big picture when designing a product, whilst also being detail-oriented and delivery focused
    • Evolve our products to be better and simpler
    • Own/fix complex design and technical debt
    • Be open to sharing, whether that be your thoughts, ideas or work in-progress


    Work with a design system

    • Use the principles, styles, components, patterns, standards and guidelines in the EIU’s design system
    • Work with other designers to maintain and evolve our design system and design principles with a holistic consideration for our products


    Work within a product team

    • Work in an Agile Scrum and Kanban process 
    • Collaborate closely with design, product and engineering to create a highly efficient delivery team
    • Facilitate and participate in workshops and discussions to promote the communication of ideas
    • Convey ideas and break down concepts clearly to a diverse range of stakeholders (verbally and written)



    • Be held accountable for design quality and cohesion across your product team
    • Evaluate existing design processes and tooling, and make recommendations when something can be improved
    • Help with mentoring junior designers and establishing a design culture within the company

    • Experience with end-to-end product design
    • Experience working with a design system
    • The ability to think at a high level about product strategy and clearly articulate design decisions
    • You are customer-centric with a good understanding of different research and testing methods, including when and how to use them
    • The ability to take ownership of the design process and work as a self-directed member of the product team
    • The ability to understand technical implications in your design decisions
    • You are an excellent communicator - able to discuss design decisions confidently at all levels
    • Good team-working, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
