We are seeking a Business Analyst to partner the Group’s Chief Information Officer and his direct reports and provide finance support, accurate and timely analysis for the Group’s Digital and Technology divisions (‘Digital Solutions’). The role will also support the New Product Development division. The Business Analyst will lead the planning and forecasting process, provide commercial finance support to the divisions and work closely with other finance teams to prepare monthly reports for inclusion in the Division and Group management reports.


With prior experience of supporting a Digital or IT business or division and with commercial acumen, the candidate will work with business managers to create realistic plans, challenge and steer assumptions in forecasting and planning and interpret financial analysis to enable stakeholders to make key decisions, achieve targets and drive performance. This will involve creation of financial projections to support new business plans and initiatives, investment appraisal and post implementation reviews and appraisals.


The ideal candidate will be comfortable in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and will be a creative, commercially focused and analytical problem solver. This role will offer high level exposure to departmental heads, requiring an understanding of key dynamics within a Digital business. The candidate must have strong financial modeling skills and strong planning and control discipline.


How you will contribute:


  • Deliver appropriate and timely analysis of Digital Solutions, Technology and New Product Development business divisions
  • Provide business partnering to key stakeholders for all financial planning and accounting matters including variance analysis and tracking of capital expenditure
  • Work closely with accountants in other finance teams to deliver monthly reporting to the business and the Group to timetable
  • Prepare regular forecasts of divisional costs, project costs and capital expenditure
  • Identify variances to both forecast and budget; take responsibility for issue resolution; and reporting to senior management thereon
  • Prepare supporting information for proposals to the Group’s Investment Committees
  • In conjunction with other finance teams, ensure correct capturing of costs by division, squad, department, product and project
  • Track capital expenditure by product and project
  • Assist with the preparation of reports and analyses for board and management presentations
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations and investigation of reconciling items
  • Produce financial projections and DCF’s for new and existing projects for business case planning and impairment analysis purposes
  • Represent finance on cross-functional project teams and work on ad hoc initiatives, as needed

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The desirable skills for this role include:

  • Professional finance qualification (e.g. ACA, CIMA, ACCA) as well as relevant experience
  • Prior experience of working within a Digital or IT business or division
  • Excellent analytical skills, a passion for metrics and figures, and the ability to get into the detail, while also seeing and understanding the bigger picture
  • Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving
  • Experience in a highly visible financial planning and analysis role, liaising with senior management
  • Strong communication skills
  • A highly collaborative work style and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects
  • Advanced Excel skills
