At the Economist Intelligence Unit’s Healthcare Division (EIU HC), we believe that actionable strategy for our client is built on the basis of market realities, where data insights and its robust analytics drive informed decisions. For that reason, we have developed a data-centric market tracker solutions called, The Gateway that aims to provide the medtech sector with credible, actionable and granular size, share and growth insights globally.


To this end, we are looking to fill a senior position who will lead The Gateway team and ensuring the alignment of the data team to our overall business vision and objectives.


In this role, he/she is part of EIU HC’s executive leadership team and will be reporting directly to the Global Managing Director.


How you will contribute:

  • Leadership/ supervisory role
    • Articulate clear data insights and solutions vision to team as well as internal and external stakeholders
    • Manage overall data insights direction, set stretched goals with Global MD’s approval; Drive revenue and manage cost
    • Define and prioritize product creation and development roadmap that meets the goals and overall business objectives for EIU HC
    • Oversees and monitors all activities of the data analytics team to ensure they deliver on time, on budget and with great client satisfaction
    • Responsible for providing clear direction and leadership to all functions (Content, product and sales) within The Gateway team for them to work collaboratively and effectively
    • Engage and manage internal and external alliances/ relationship for strategic product development and successful GTM
  • Product development and content alignment/ management
    • Align product development with broader company strategy and market demand
    • Lead product delivery, develop and manage databases and data processing and packaging operations for overall Gateway business
    • Responsible for leading the planning and design of analytical approaches, methodology, development processes (QC, data sourcing) for the data analytics team to implement
    • Refresh and explore new product solutions yearly to expand portfolio
    • Create product innovations, enhancements and line extensions based on external market demand
  • Client engagement
    • Creates value for clients by way of understanding their needs and translating them into required and desired analytical products and solutions
    • Leads day-to-day analytics and reporting functions in support of our key client accounts
    • Responsible for managing key client accounts to retain account loyalty and upsell data solutions

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for the role are: 


  • 10 - 15 years of experience in developing business reporting solutions, focusing on requirements gathering and effective communication of business insights
  • Proven track record of translating clients' business needs into comprehensive analytic plans that provide the client with assurance that their requirements will be met
  • Comprehensive knowledge in Healthcare industry accepted standards on descriptive, diagnostic, predictive analytics
  • Strong statistical skills with love for data visualization and reporting
  • Experience in at least one of the following programming language such as SPSS, Python, R or STATA MLwiN
  • Experience in SQL; experience in producing Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access data
  • Understanding of the medical device or pharmaceutical industry knowledge is essential
  • Understanding of ISO 20252/26362 knowledge an advantage
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to motivate teams and work well with people at all levels in the organization
  • Analytical, organization skills 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Business (required) and or an MBA (preferable)
