The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is the world leader in global business intelligence. It is the B2B arm of The Economist Group, which publishes The Economist newspaper. 

 

Currently, we are seeking for an experienced and ambitious SEO manager who will lead, develop and execute our SEO strategy to meet commercial objectives. This role will work closely with the marketing acquisition team and wider business to identify new keyword opportunities, optimise existing platforms, and deliver both technical and content recommendations that will raise The EIU’s digital profile and increase the volume and quality of leads generated for conversion.

 

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

  • Own and deliver a globally focused SEO strategy that produces clear ROI for The EIU’s set of web properties, including lead generation and ecommerce sites
  • Identify keyword opportunities for acquisition through regular keyword research and data analysis
  • Optimise our content and landing page performance to improve our existing pages and manage a page delivery roadmap for the future
  • Represent and influence SEO requirements across campaigns, including PR and social teams, to improve domain authority for The EIU’s web properties
  • Champion SEO considerations for go-to-market initiatives, including new products and services, and manage agency relationships
  • Recommend technical SEO improvements that provide tangible benefits to our web performance and manage backlog of delivery
  • Own the ranking performance of our brand websites and monitor redirects, click rate, bounce rate, and other KPIs that influence site and off-site performance
  • Collaborate with wider Group teams to ensure The EIU’s approach fits within the broader Economist Group strategy
  • Help inform paid search strategy, working with the wider acquisition team on identifying opportunities and implementing campaigns

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The Ideal Skills for this role:

  • In depth technical understanding of both on and off-site SEO requirements
  • Analytical skills to interpret data and turn insights into actionable plans for incremental gains
  • Relevant experience in acquisition marketing with focus on lead generation and nurturing
  • A passion for understanding customers, tone of voice, and ability to drive performance whilst protecting brand values
  • Knowledge and use of SEO ranking tools including keyword research and planning
  • PPC experience (desirable)
  • A customer champion with a keen interest in digital marketing practices
  • A great communicator who can work cross-functionally with multiple stakeholders in a global team
  • The ability to take the initiative and solve problems rather than ask permission
  • The ability to understand the drivers of a subscription business and identify insights that can inform future strategy
