The Economist has recently launched a series of digital events exclusively for subscribers. The aim of these events is to drive engagement and retention by bringing subscribers closer to our content and our journalists.

We are recruiting for an Events Executive to support in the planning and execution of our subscriber events series. The successful candidate will deliver the marketing plan for each of our virtual events, working closely with the design and copy team, and manage the digital events platform and events website. They will also be responsible for reporting on the performance of each event based on set KPIs, and collating feedback from attendees which will be used to make future event recommendations. The Events Executive will support the Head of Customer Engagement in liaising with Editorial colleagues who will be taking part in the events. The candidate will also be expected to spend a portion of time working on other marketing activities related to subscriber engagement and retention.


How you will contribute:


  • Create multi-channel marketing plans for upcoming subscriber events
  • Work with our in-house design and copy team to create impactful marketing materials for each event 
  • Execute the marketing plan for each event, ensuring the campaign is delivered on time and within budget
  • Monitor and report on event registrations, and make recommendations for boosting registrations if needed
  • Keep events calendar and customer-facing events website up to date at all times
  • Support in liaising with editorial colleagues in setting up each virtual event and providing admin support during live events
  • Manage the digital events platform - setting up new events, adding panellists, tracking marketing performance. 
  • Write and build customer surveys and collate customer feedback during events 
  • Report on performance and engagement on each event and collate a post-event summary deck 
  • Communicate events to other areas of the business such as PR and internal comms, and collaborate with different departments to run joint events where necessary

Experience, skills and professional attributes

Ideal skills and abilities for this role are:


  • 1-2+ years experience in event marketing, preferably with some online event experience
  • Experience in publishing/subscriptions role is preferred but not essential
  • Some email marketing experience
  • Understanding of technical set-ups of webinars preferred
  • Strong copywriting skills
  • Customer focussed mind-set in terms of customer-experience, gathering feedback and improving 
  • Experience in analysing marketing performance by channel and event engagement metrics
  • Project management and collaboration skills; comfortable working with various teams across the business to get desired outcomes
