The Economist Group has a global implementation of Salesforce.com, Sales Cloud. This is spread over several businesses and different revenue streams. There is integration with related marketing products such as Marketo & Eloqua, and some use is made of the Force.com platform.  In addition, The Economist Group is currently implementing a B2C Salesforce instance, which will span Communities, Service & Marketing Clouds and includes installed packages, such as Limio and Zuora; this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a Digital Transformation programme to improve our Customer Experience.

 

The Salesforce Developer will support the expansion of our Salesforce capabilities while working on projects from requirement gathering to design and implementation. Responsibilities will also include Salesforce configuration along with the system maintenance and customization to support business requirements, recommending opportunities for on-going improvements as appropriate. The role demands considerable Salesforce.com experience developing programmatically and to provide architectural recommendations. 

 

This is an exciting role which will allow the successful candidate to gain exposure to multiple Salesforce Clouds and be a part of a dynamic team and interact with stakeholders across different departments and levels.

 

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

  • Proactively interact with stakeholders to understand Salesforce requirements and subsequently translate them into technical specifications;
  • Work with the Business Analyst function to facilitate information gathering workshops and produce documentation to allow data capture;
  • Work with the wider team to help define stories and epics, and take part in regular planning sessions to ensure the level of work required to deliver functionality is properly understood;
  • Manage delivery of functional and technical solutions and system integrations including testing strategy and execution;
  • Ensure proposed technical solutions meet Salesforce coding best practice and code coverage to be at 90%+;
  • Manage existing and build new integrations between Salesforce and other applications;
  • Perform and execute all unit testing prior to being handed over to the QA Team;
  • Work with the QA Team to ensure that all delivered solutions are fully functionally tested;
  • Work with business colleagues to gain user acceptance and take up, including conducting UAT/Demos and providing training sessions and materials
  • Create custom build reports for trend analysis using standard reports functionality as well as reporting snapshot and historical trending;
  • Mentor and Coach Salesforce Administrators within the team;
  • Create and keep Salesforce related technical documents and training materials up-to-date;
  • Keep up-to-date with new Salesforce releases and promptly identify features which could add value to the Economist’s Salesforce users and those which will impact existing processes and require urgent attention as required;
  • Assist the Administrator team to ensure the Salesforce data storage is within limit - implement continuous review and corrective action;
  • Provide support for the day to day management of Salesforce.com; and
  • Perform administrative tasks such as setting up users, manage the security settings, create or update fields, page layouts, process builder and workflows, reports and dashboards and manage data using data loader or other tools

 

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this role are:

  • Relevant bachelor’s degree (or equivalent);
  • At least Administrator, Platform Developer - I and Sales Cloud Certified.
  • In depth and progressive Salesforce experience (from administrator to developer) gained in a similar role;
  • Experience working on Salesforce products - Sales Cloud, Service Cloud, Force.com and Community Cloud;
  • Development with semi-structured data like JSON;
  • Knowledge of REST and SOAP API's;
  • Ability to design complex SOQL and SOSL queries;
  • The development of custom front-end Lightning components through Aura and/or Web Components;
  • Point-and-click development within a Lightning environment;
  • Analysis and design through to successful implementation of Salesforce.com, including experience with Salesforce.com developer toolkit including Apex Classes, Controllers, and Triggers, Visualforce, LWC, VisualStudio, Force.com Migration Tool, Web Services;
  • Understanding of Salesforce platform limits and how to efficiently code to these;
  • Delivering Salesforce.com training to users at all levels in terms of organisational structure and experience using Salesforce;
  • Experience of business analysis.
  • Code deployment experience using Salesforce DX with Github;
  • Ability to provide application users with technical and functional support.
  • A good understanding of data structures, data modelling, DB schema;
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies and JIRA as a project management application;
  • A proven track record of successful project delivery with at least three full project life cycles completed;
  • Knowledge of Java and Javascript;
  • Excellent teamwork with both clients and colleagues;
