This entails a full suite of solutions, from assessing growth opportunities for industry to understanding the effectiveness and value of healthcare interventions, on both advanced and emerging economies.


Currently we are seeking a highly motivated and talented Business Development Manager to join our fast-growing Healthcare business.  This role will be instrumental in leading commercial sales of EIU Healthcare’s suite of data-centric and market insights solutions to Medtech and Life Sciences clients across the US market.  


The ideal candidate will have strong sales skills to Medtech or Healthcare accounts, but be equally comfortable prospecting and building new business leads.  They will be expected to engage with senior decision makers across a range of functions.  The Business development manager will be expected to become an expert on our solutions and capabilities, to win business and engage key accounts.




How you will contribute:


  • Responsible for meeting sales targets assigned by Global Managing Director for EIU Healthcare
  • Develop and execute winning key account strategies. Including account mapping, prospecting and maintaining insights and knowledge on our key accounts.
  • Gain a deep understanding of our key accounts priorities, strategies, structure and values.
  • Proactively seek out and pursue new opportunities with existing and new contacts in our key accounts in the designated territory.  Manage the full sales cycle from lead through to proposal and contracting.

Develop winning proposals

  • Be able to scope out new leads and opportunities, working with the clients requirements to answer their needs with winning proposals
  • Have a strong understanding of our data product (the Gateway) as well as  research consulting methodologies and be able to understand and present EIU Healthcare’s key capabilities and value propositions to senior client stakeholders in Medtech and Life Sciences space.

Develop and grow relationships with key accounts

  • Provides leadership/ oversight and serves as key Engagement Manager on the largest projects for key accounts.  Ensuring we exceed clients’ expectations and drive value to the engagement.
  • Works with clients to take on feedback and continuously improve on the clients experience and expectations of working with EIU Healthcare.
  • Become a key partner of our key accounts, managing and growing the relationship and ensuring profitable growth for the business.
  • Be an ambassador for The Economist Group, working across business units to leverage group capabilities to deliver on specific client projects or initiatives.

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for the role are:

  • Successful track record of 10+ years selling to clients in the Medtech and Lifescience industries
  • Degree in a business-related discipline 
  • Strong level of curiosity and entrepreneurial drive
  • Experience of both new business development and account management
  • Experience of selling business intelligence solutions
  • Experience and strong comfort level selling to senior decision makers of large multi-national corporations
  • Experience in managing sales relationships
  • Understanding of the key relationships and strategic issues facing the industry in the region
  • Knowledge of basic IT programs such as word, excel, powerpoint etc
  • Knowledge of working with a sales CRM system
  • Fluency in English is requisite
  • Excellent people skills, with the ability to motivate teams and work well with people at all levels in the organization
  • Highly analytical, organized and meticulous
