We are seeking a Group Financial Operations Director to oversee a team of 7 and manage the development of financial policies, procedures, and operations to achieve business objectives. This position will ensure The Group’s cash position and working capital is managed optimally. Additionally, the Group financial Operations Direction will be tasked with evaluating, analyzing and developing financial systems to meet evolving business needs. 


How you will contribute:

  • Ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of financial management and accounting in areas of:
    - Accounts payable
    - Banking and cash application
    - Accounts receivable and billing
    - Credit control
    - Payroll
    - Customer payments processing
    - Economist subscriptions
  • Continual review, improvement and streamlining of financial and management controls
    including new systems implementations and upgrades
  • Establishing and monitoring application of Group and business internal control policies and
  • Manage financial processes to plan for adequate cash and funding requirements across the
    Group and maximize cash flow
  • Communicate changes to policy, procedure and processes to users and the wider business.
  • Ensuring the correct information flow for indirect tax compliance globally
  • Work alongside the outsourced Group Internal Audit to coordinate audits and respond to
    recommendations from audit
  • Oversee the reconciliation of balance sheet accounts for areas of responsibility
  • Manage the annual group insurance renewal
  • Integration of new business acquisitions
  • Partner with Payments Optimization specialists within Circulation Operations in managing the payments process and developing relationships with external payments partners including Paypal, Credit Card acquirers and gateway providers to ensure service meets the needs of the business, is well controlled, cost effective and PCI compliant

Experience, skills and professional attributes

Ideal skills and attributes for this role:


  • Degree-level education
  • Qualified Accountant preferred 
  • Previous experience acting as a Manager within a shared service function
  • Previous experience managing financial processing teams
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver process changes and improvements
  • Knowledge of financial control objectives in processing areas, revenue recognition in customer subscription models, indirect taxation, customer payment processing and payroll
