Engineering Manager

We’re changing, embedding alternate data sources such as GPS and satellite data into our forecasting, products will increasingly be tailored to individual clients, driven by some of the most innovative data in the market. A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience and Product Engineering is being created with a focus on creating business and customer value driven by real time analytics alongside our traditional products.

We are transitioning to operating with agile product teams and adopting cloud native engineering practices and we need your help. The role is approximately 60% hands on coding and 40% management. 

As an Engineering Manager you will provide line management and technical leadership of a cross-functional team. You will improve how we continuously deliver our applications ensuring best practice and innovation of our systems

Can you 

• Execute on strategic direction set by business working with product owners on priority
• Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development life-cycle.
• Set team-based standards for programming tools and techniques, advise on their application and ensure implementation
• Identify complexity in projects/services/processes and proactively and works with the team to scope and prioritise resolutions
• Design, write and deliver software to deliver on strategic direction
• Coach, motivate and develop team members through their career track in an environment of continuous improvement and modern technologies and techniques.
• Works within, and encourages a Devops culture and Continuous Delivery process.
• Works within agile cross-functional product teams

The ideal skills for this role include:

• Language speciality in .Net. and React
• Expert in Agile development methodologies 
• Complete understanding of data and content flows through CMS and CDN systems
• Experience in developing on public cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.

To succeed in this role it would be an advantage if you possess:

• Hands-on technical experience.
• Capable of technical deep-dives into code and architecture.
• Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design 
• Demonstrated expertise in recruiting and managing a team of enthusiastic, experienced engineers on large scale projects.
• Expertise in problem solving and analysing global scale distributed systems.
• Effective management and communication skills
