Meetings provide unusually high-level forums where senior executives can gain insights, exchange views and compare strategies.

 

Currently we are seeking a Senior Content Producer for The Economist's Custom Events business in the Americas to lead the development and delivery of bespoke events in the region. The role will be responsible for developing original ideas, working closely with commercial teams to develop business and pitch programmes, managing a team of permanent and temporary content creators and ensuring the high-quality delivery of client-focused content. The opportunity is located in The Economist Group's New York headquarters. 

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:   

  • Work closely with the global head of content & programmes to develop and apply the custom events' content strategy in the region
  • Lead content development and execution of the custom business' Americas portfolio of events
  • Apply best practice commercial event programming techniques and KPIs to your own event production, inc. lead times, research, key milestones, commercial relationships to reach event goals
  • Create original, engaging content to meet client objectives in adherence to editorial and best-practice guidelines
  • Ensure that the recruitment of exceptional, high-calibre speakers reflect the standing of The Economist's brand
  • Work with sales, programming and marketing to find workable solutions to meet the requirements of both our clients and delegates for events in the region, whilst maintaining editorial guidelines and independence
  • Serve as a central point of contact on regional proposals and contracts
  • Develop effective relationships with key regional internal stakeholders, both editorially and commercially, to raise the profile and support the growth of custom events   

 

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The desirable skills for this role include:   

  • Previous work experience within a commercial events business 
  • Significant experience in content creation, editorial or a related field
  • Demonstrable track record of developing event programmes to deadlines and delivering to milestones and budget 
  • Demonstrable ability to develop effective relationships with senior industry professionals
  • Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and client management skills
  • Keen understanding of The Economist position in the market, editorial approach and knowledge of the range of topics it covers
  • Ability to understand and distil information quickly
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Ability to multi-task with solid organisation and time-management skills
  • Ability to mentor, nurture and develop young talent  
  • Team player who collaborates and inspires
