As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) helps leaders prepare for opportunity, enabling them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence and forecasts to the public and private sector. The Country Analysis division is organised by geographical region and is responsible for providing forecasts, reports and analysis for more than 200 countries.

 

Currently, we are seeking a Research Analyst for our Country Analysis Europe team to ensure the delivery of high-quality content. In this role you will be responsible for covering a range of countries in Eastern Europe; this includes producing monthly numerical forecasts, writing and editing reports; and producing event-driven coverage for those countries.

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

 

  • Ensure that your country analysis output is commissioned, edited, checked, signed off and published to a consistently high standard. This includes ensuring that analysis and forecasts are accurate and timely (in respect of both the schedule and the external news flow) and that editorial deadlines are respected
  • Maintain a high-quality contributor network for the countries you cover
  • Participate in team discussions on key issues in the region to develop our views and forecasts
  • Collaborate with other teams to improve analytical coverage 
  • Represent the EIU when required – with clients, at conferences and to the media
  • Work actively and in a co-operative manner across the EIU's business units (including sales and marketing) to best leverage the regional team's expertise

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this are:

  • Knowledge and expertise in Russia, the CIS and Eastern Europe
  • Some experience of political and economic analysis and forecasting
  • Relevant language skills
  • Political analysis and forecasting skills
  • Anability to convey ideas and opinions coherently
  • A university degree in economics, history, international relations or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience
  • Good MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills and the ability to manipulate large numerical databases
