How you will contribute:


As an interaction designer, you’ll work alongside expert practitioners in policy and economic research, data-design and analytics, media strategy and content production. Operating as part of cross-functional teams, you’ll provide design thinking, interaction paradigms and user insights to support and collaborate with the expertise around you. 


This is a creative, and collaborative, role. On the one hand, you are seamlessly marrying visual design aspects that delight and inspire with the functional features and usable aspects that a user might need to complete their tasks and drive value from the project.


Challenges you will tackle in this role include: 


  • Transforming unique and highlighly complex data sets into actionable and insightful interactions
  • Executing creative concepts across a wide range of platforms and media from websites, analysis tools, interactive event installations to social media and print. How can we leverage all platforms to deliver the biggest impact.
  • Collaborating on compelling creative propositions and concepts
  • Compiling user, business and technical requirements to frame a project’s vision, structure and approach.
  • Determining end user goals and design interactions necessary to achieve those goals
  • Supporting the definition of a projects strategy, purpose and vision
  • Creating prototypes and assets that illustrate key interaction paradigms and concepts
  • Iterate over the work to assess performance and continuously strive to find and validate areas of improvement 
  • Working with information and UI designers to develop layout and visuals
  • Collaborate with development teams to ensure efficient and effective implementation of work.
  • Support in conducting user interviews and testing to identify opportunities, problems and areas for improvement.
  • Presenting concepts and communicating ideas to clients, leadership and your project team peers.
  • Staying up to date with industry trends and best practices
  • Adjusting concepts and approach as user and business needs change.

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The desirable skills for this role include:

  • Proven experience in-house or agency in a similar role
  • Experience working with complex data sets
  • Working in lean, agile and collaborative environments
  • A passion for data and information design 
  • Ability to use design software such as Figma/Sketch/Adobe creative suite
  • Experience conducting stakeholder and user interviews
