The Economist is looking for a Senior Mobile Engineer to join our flagship mobile app engineering team.

We are investing in our mobile app experience as an essential window into our outstanding content, text and audio. We’re growing our engineering team to help our users find and read more of our content, to keep coming back and to increase customer loyalty.

You’ll work in an agile environment, releasing quickly and often to the app stores to ensure quick feedback loops around the success or not of our features and experiments.

This is the time to be joining a profitable, responsible business with a brand and culture that you can be proud of and with every opportunity to deliver success for the Group and yourself.

For this role, we are able to sponsor candidates who require a UK worker visa. We also offer a relocation package to help with your move to the UK.

This role is available in our central Birmingham office, just a five minute walk from New Street Station and minutes from Snow Hill Station.

We offer flexible working and have systems in place to ensure working remotely when the need arises. During the current Covid-19 situation, however, we’re all working remotely – the intention is that when we are ready, we’ll move back to spending more time in the office than not.

How you will contribute:

  • Report to the Engineering Manager of the mobile team
  • Work with our designers and product owners in our product organisation to create a seamless user experience
  • Work on the team that is essential to growing and retaining our subscriber base
  • Work on a React Native application while going native on iOS/Android when required
