The Economist is looking for a Software Engineer to join our Content Engineering team, based in Birmingham but working remotely during the current Covid-19 situation.
Our Content Engineering teams build and run the products driving The Economist’s digital content, including articles, audio, video and interactive content. Our team’s mission is to facilitate digital content creation and build an efficient back-end system to serve it to our apps. As editorial engineers, we are a crucial part of creating new user experiences powered by The Economist’s most engaging content.
This year we are growing our Birmingham-based engineering team to deliver an overhaul of our content ecosystem and build the foundations of our future editorial and user experiences.
You’ll work in an agile environment, shipping to production often to ensure quick feedback loops around the success—or not—of our features and experiments.
Now is the time to be joining a profitable, responsible business with a brand and culture that you can be proud of and with every opportunity to deliver success for the Economist Group and yourself.
This role is available in our central Birmingham office, just a five minute walk from New Street Station and minutes from Snow Hill Station.
We offer flexible working and have systems in place to ensure working remotely when the need arises. During the current Covid-19 situation, however, we’re all working remotely – the intention is that when we are ready, we’ll move back to spending more time in the office than not.
