Our Global Health practice offers independent, specialised evidence synthesis, policy assessment and strategic analyses for organisations across the healthcare ecosystem. With an extensive history of analysing the intersection of healthcare and local markets, our practice seeks to drive effective decisions (at a system, population and individual level) and impactful external engagement by interpreting and communicating the implications of underlying health trends.

We are seeking a global health principal who will support the growth of our thriving business in Asia. The successful candidate will be focused on building the profile of the business in the healthcare sector, developing new business opportunities, executing innovative, high quality research programmes and developing relationships with key opinion leaders in the region. The role requires an individual who has a strong academic background in health, and is passionate about improving health outcomes, with strong analytical capabilities, editorial flair, excellent project and client management skills, high energy and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced consulting environment.




How you will contribute:

  • Manage the delivery of high-quality evidence-driven research projects, including liaising with clients and internal stakeholders, executing appropriate research methodologies, writing and editing compelling deliverables
  • Interpret client needs and develop winning proposals that present the full breadth of the global health practice and Economist Group capabilities
  • Develop and demonstrate expertise across key domains related to health (health systems in Asia, therapeutic areas, etc.)
  • Lead a team of global health analysts across the Asia region, including planning, directing and overseeing the day-to-day activities of team members
  • Provide health intellectual leadership to the regional team, demonstrating in your own work and behaviour a commitment to excellence, rigor, and creativity
  • Support a team culture centered on intellectual ambition, collaboration, and integrity
  • Build an effective partnership with the client success team to ensure seamless client experiences on integrated projects
  • Ensure that all the work you deliver meets the quality standards, branding rules and editorial guidelines set by The Economist Group
  • Manage performance and professional development, in collaboration with regional and global practice leads where appropriate
  • Support the regional lead and global health practice in developing a commercial strategy in the region
  • Work actively with the business development team, shaping and helping to execute on opportunities, and coordinating with other Economist Group businesses
  • Serve as a public face of the global health practice in Asia, working with practice leaders and the marketing team to build its profile among key audiences
  • Serve as a senior client contact for key regional healthcare accounts – use position to renew and grow these accounts, deepening the relationships with clients; build and maintain relationships with key clients to ensure business is renewed and expanded
  • Closely manage the profitability of your projects, identifying and correcting inefficiencies

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills of the role are:

  • A post-graduate degree with a science, health or health policy focus
  • Deep knowledge and understanding of healthcare industry dynamics and drivers of change, with good understanding of global issues
  • Excellent stakeholder and project management skills
  • Experience of budget management and business development
  • Expert knowledge of health specific research methodologies
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, experience presenting to senior audiences and editing research reports
  • Experience in healthcare industry, research or consulting, including interface with healthcare policymakers and/or corporate executives
  • Interest in building a public profile as an issue expert
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare client organisations in the Asia-Pacific region is an advantage
  • A strong desire to provide excellent client service
  • Native English language skills; Asian languages an advantage
