A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience and Product Engineering is being created with a focus on creating business and customer value-driven by real-time analytics alongside our traditional products.

 

The Economist Intelligence Unit (eiu.com) are transitioning to operating with agile product teams and adopting cloud-native engineering practices and we need your help. As a Business Analyst, you will be part of the agile product teams and contribute to delivering customer value.

 

Accountabilities

How you will contribute:

Can you 

  • Work within a product team, particularly closely with the Product Owner and User Experience Designer to gather, document and manage business requirements and functional specifications
  • Constantly look for opportunities to improve interaction with the business, the quality and speed of requirements gathering, to move the organization in our strategic direction
  • Act as a liaison between the product team and software developers, translating business needs into requirements and technical specifications for implementation of new sites and system, or modification of existing ones
  • Review, refine and optimise existing business processes
  • Review and Identify and write epics and user stories
  • Provide input into agile team estimation and planning
  • Troubleshoot operational issues, recommends solutions
  • Perform quality assurance activities: develop test plan, test cases and test scripts, lead, perform and track testing efforts; manage defects
  • Manage small projects, according to internal processes and standards, including scheduling and managing team activities and reporting up the project and management chains

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in this role it would be an advantage if you possess:

    • Hands-on experience of working as a Business Analyst in an Agile delivery environment and an understanding of your role in appropriate ceremonies such as grooming and prioritisation sessions. Able to lead or facilitate when needed.
    • Experienced in an Agile analysis approach, working just far enough ahead to elicit, validate and express requirements from both customers and stakeholders. 
    • Skillful in iterating across epics and stories to split and deliver the appropriate scope for maximum value as early as possible.
    • Constantly looking for opportunities to improve interactions with the business to better move the organisation in our targeted strategic direction.
    • Demonstrates an understanding of vision, strategy and business goals, with an ability to link smaller tactical changes and decisions to the bigger picture.
    • Strong and varied toolbox of high quality techniques and visual aids to supplement a requirements backlog in the most appropriate format for the audience.
    • Excellent communication and facilitation skills whether collaborating with business stakeholders or engineering teams, in meetings or workshops.
    • Robust problem-solving skills whether refining and optimising business processes or assessing customer problems and understanding when to use data insights
    • Successfully develops productive and trusting relationships and promotes the benefits of teamwork and collaboration.
    • Self motivated and happy working in an ambiguous environment and can set their own priorities and direction.
