We’re changing, embedding alternate data sources such as GPS and satellite data into our forecasting.  Products will increasingly be tailored to individual clients, driven by some of the most innovative data in the market. A highly collaborative team of Product Managers, Customer Experience, and Product Engineering is being created with a focus on creating business and customer value-driven by real-time analytics alongside our traditional products.

The Economist Intelligence Unit ( are transitioning to operating with agile product teams and adopting cloud-native engineering practices, and we need your help. As an agile project manager, you will be accountable for the agile process and managing dependencies between various product and non-product teams, including our PMO.


How you will contribute:

You’ll have done most of the following:

  • Managed the outputs of a software development team and have experience with a variety of agile and waterfall delivery methodologies
  • Taken responsibility for the translation and measurement of value (what you put in and what you will get out) and ensure this relates to practical commercial objectives and the user needs
  • Ensured your team(s) have situational awareness of work and priorities while consulting and communicating these with others outside of the product team
  • Made sure that working practices are continually iterated upon to improve delivery efficiency
  • Understood the different phases of product delivery and have contributed to, planned or ran these
  • Communicate effectively across organisational, technical, and political boundaries while understanding the different contexts and stakeholders
  • Driven delivery team at a sustainable pace, managed stakeholder expectations and ensured the team met these expectations
  • Engage in elements of risk management such as effectively managing and tracking the mitigation of risks. Perhaps you’ve managed a RAID log
  • Managed multiple dependencies across teams and departments
  • Understand team styles and how people work together. You can ensure the health of a team and facilitate conflict resolution, accelerating team performance
  • Take a consistent and ongoing approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, managing uncertainty, metrics and measurements, contingency planning and roadmapping

You might also know about or have worked with:

  • A product team who deploy into a cloud environment (AWS, GCP or Azure).
  • A subscription, publishing or forecasting business.
  • The tools we use to manage software delivery (AWS, Jira, Confluence and GSuite).
  • Teams who build and run APIs and data platforms.

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this role include:

  • Significant experience working within B2C Product transformations and deep understanding of product management methodology and practices
  • Significant experience of successfully managing and delivering complex business facing projects
  • Expertise and experience running Agile and Waterfall projects
  • Strong understanding of a variety of Agile approaches e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe with the ability to use appropriately where needed
  • Advanced user of JIRA and Confluence
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence at all level across various businesses
  • Good knowledge and application of project management methodology and techniques 
  • Adopt pragmatic ways of working across multiple methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid)
  • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organisational skills
  • Comfortable producing detail status reports and managing risks, issues and dependencies in a RAID log
  • Able to assess complex challenges, apply a logical framework and present a compelling case for change
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent coaching / mentoring skills
  • A highly collaborative work style and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Advanced MS Office/Google Suite skills
  • Adaptable and comfortable working in areas of significant ambiguity
  • Experience of being able to challenge and influence decisions
  • Pragmatic and flexible, with a willingness to take on different roles and responsibilities in order to successfully deliver a project
  • Experience within the Publishing or Media industry would be beneficial
