The data analysis and insights function sits as part of a global commercial product and data team in Economist Impact. We are looking for someone who can work autonomously and as part of a collaborative team.  This would be an ideal role for an enthusiastic, collaborative Digital data Analyst, with expertise in web analytics and insight. 

This is a 12 month fixed term contract. 


How you will contribute:

  • Be responsible for all aspects of client reporting on digital storytelling projects (setting KPIs, creating and applying measurement frameworks, setting up reporting dashboards and insights, and custom analysis)
  • Provide subject matter expertise and consultancy to internal teams and clients in the area of web analytics and tracking - with a particular focus on the Google Suite of products (Google Analytics, Tag Manager, Data Studio)
  • Implement and QA custom event tracking using a debug console, problem-solving against tight schedules
  • Identify, evaluate and implement external services and tools to support data new tracking initiatives and data validation and cleansing
  • Create data dashboards, graphs and visualisations and build them into presentations and documents as needed
  • Mine and analyse large datasets, draw valid inferences and present them using a reporting tool
  • Developing best practices for digital solutions in general and taking ownership of integrated reporting projects
  • Provide sector and industry benchmarking analyses and reports

  • A self starter with an analytical mind and troubleshooter mindset to problem solve nimbly 
  • Attention to detail, along with the ability to communicate clearly
  • Strong in mathematical and analytical thinking and ability to quickly group items into categories and subcategories based on similarities, see patterns in data
  • A person with a genuine passion for digital and data with a keen sense of future developments
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing multiple stakeholders with conflicting priorities
  • Ability to present reports to external parties and to explain analytics in simple terms
  • Strong numerical background (Math, Computer Science, Economics, Information Management, Excel Macros, RegEx functions, …)
  • Google Tag Manager - 1+ years experience 
  • Google Analytics - 1+ years experience
  • Knowledge and/or experience working with Python (data Analysis), SQL, JavaScript would be a considered a strong plus
  • Data visualization tools - should have good understanding of sourcing of data and key requirements for data cleansing works
  • Experience with a debug console (example: GA Debugger)
  • Knowledge of data visualisation and presentation tools (such as PowerPoint, Google Slides, Flourish, Tableau, R Shiny)
  • Experience with other reporting tools (Heatmaps, Video reporting (Brightcove, YouTube), Social media reporting etc.) - preferable
