We are developing a world-class product management organisation focused on building ground-breaking digital products, supported by a modern ‘headless’ content management system (CMS) and content platform. We are looking for a Senior Technical Product Manager to help us migrate from our existing CMS stack to a new digital platform optimised for our current and future needs, and to lead the development of the content platform and related APIs to help drive engaging multi-channel content experiences.

 

The ideal candidate will have worked in a product management and/or analysis capacity with API development (GraphQL, REST etc) and will be able to hold relevant conversations across multiple product, engineering and analysis teams to define and prioritise complex technical features and services. They will be familiar with a variety of content management systems; have knowledge of taxonomy, tagging, semantic analysis and data structures for content; and experience with data and/or content migration

Accountabilities

 

  • Prepare detailed quarterly roadmaps and a high-level 12-month plan for content platform development, in line with business goals and strategic priorities
  • Work with the Group Product Manager to define and align content platform and migration initiatives and capabilities with other teams
  • Manage, plan and align priorities across multiple streams of work and with other dependent product teams
  • Document use cases, user stories, requirements and designs for development teams 
  • Work with business analysts, product managers and engineers to define, map and document content/data schemas and structures
  • Collaborate with the product managers who own the front-end experiences on our website, mobile apps and other products, to ensure any API or content schema changes are consistent with the user experience for the end customer
  • Collaborate with engineering to ensure product and technical architecture is aligned with business and end-to-end process needs
  • Work with delivery, engineering and QA to deliver value incrementally, using agile methodologies, and to ensure the content platform is reliable, easy to use, performant and provides continuity of service for consumer channels and teams
  • Support data/content migration strategies, plans and processes

Experience, skills and professional attributes

The ideal skills for this role are:

  • Builder: Someone who has built backend API service platforms or implemented headless CMSs and is excited by the opportunity to do so
  • Listener: A great listener who can work across multiple teams to align and synthesise needs and dependencies into requirements
  • Documenter: Someone strong on documenting user stories, use cases, workflows, requirements and dependencies for internal tech teams
  • Communicator: A strong communicator who is able to explain their vision of future product functionality to multiple internal technology and product teams 
  • Technical understanding: Someone who can get into the technical details of a back-end platform or product and understand how to get the most out of it. 
  • Humble: Someone who will seek opportunities to learn and grow hard and soft skills through feedback and self-reflection

 

Organisation:

  • Reports to Group Product Manager, Content Production & Distribution
  • Close working with senior functional stakeholders across the wider product, engineering, delivery and editorial organisation
