The Economist Group: where people drive progress
The Economist Group is a global media and information-services company that exists to champion progress. We provide individuals and organisations with the expertise, insights and perspective to press forward.
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Consent and User Data team, which is responsible for building and running the products driving The Economist’s Compliance with regulations and laws globally. Data Privacy and regulation compliance is a critical area for The Economist, and it is crucial that solutions we deliver can straddle the line of compliance, whilst ensuring that our readers experience is not reduced enabling them to access The Economist’s most engaging content. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building the architectural design and support for our cookie consent systems integration with all websites across The Economist Group. You will identify complexity in projects, services, processes and proactively work with our team to scope and prioritise resolutions. You will have huge potential and opportunities to expand your development skills, joining an ambitious and inclusive team who are committed to delivering the best results for our subscribers.
At The Economist we believe having the right work-life balance is super important; striking balance between your personal and professional life is critical to wellbeing and happiness. We offer flexible working and shifted to a 'remote first' working policy with a minimum expectation of coming to the office twice a month, however you can come in more often if you wish to. Our remodelled Birmingham HQ is in the heart of the city and we use it for collaborating and connecting in-person.
Our culture
We all play a part in building our culture. Whether it's through welcoming new colleagues, team building activities, joining colleague events, celebrations or affinity groups there’s an opportunity for you to get involved. Continuous development is central to our working culture and we encourage teams to pair up or mob on tasks. From our 10% a week learning time policy, to our learning and development platform, Degreed, with unlimited access to Udemy courses, as well as a host of other world-class content providers - there are many ways to develop your skills and career with us.
