We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our Consent and User Data team, which is responsible for building and running the products driving The Economist’s Compliance with regulations and laws globally. Data Privacy and regulation compliance is a critical area for The Economist, and it is crucial that solutions we deliver can straddle the line of compliance, whilst ensuring that our readers experience is not reduced enabling them to access The Economist’s most engaging content. The Senior Software Engineer will be responsible for building the architectural design and support for our cookie consent systems integration with all websites across The Economist Group. You will identify complexity in projects, services, processes and proactively work with our team to scope and prioritise resolutions. • Take technical responsibility for all stages in the software development life-cycle
• Work on documentation of the architectural design such that our development teams can work towards it.
• Work on diagnostic reports ad fixes as required as a result of testing.
• Develop and implement features to the target design.
• Apply team-based standards for programming tools and techniques and advise on their application
• Design, write and deliver software to deliver in a strategic direction
• Work within, and encourages a Devops culture and Continuous Delivery process.

• Experience of commercial web software development using HTML, CSS, Javascript.
• Knowledge of data and content flows through CMS and CDN systems.
• Familiarity with developing on public cloud infrastructure, specifically AWS.
• Works within agile cross-functional product teams.
• Capable of technical deep-dives into code and architecture.
• Proficiency in algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis and software design.
• Ability to problem solving and analysing global scale distributed systems.
• Effective communication skills.
